Same-Day Water Heater Replacement in Philadelphia: What to Expect
No hot water is a same-day emergency. You can't shower, can't wash dishes, can't do laundry. Most plumbers will tell you they can come "sometime this week." We install Bradford White water heaters and can often replace yours the same day you call.
How Same-Day Replacement Works
Step 1: You Contact Us
Call (844) 460-4328 or upload a photo through our website. If you send a photo of the data plate (the sticker on the side of your water heater), we can often quote you before we even arrive.
Step 2: We Confirm and Dispatch
For calls received by early afternoon, we can typically get a crew out the same day. We confirm the scope, give you a price, and schedule the visit. No surprises when we show up.
Step 3: The Installation (2-4 Hours)
Here's what happens during a typical replacement:
- Drain the old unit โ we connect a hose and drain the tank (30-45 minutes for a full 50-gallon tank)
- Disconnect and remove โ water lines, gas line, venting, then haul the old unit out
- Set and connect the new unit โ position the new Bradford White, connect water, gas, and venting
- Code compliance โ install or verify expansion tank, gas drip leg, proper venting, T&P discharge
- Fill, test, and verify โ fill the tank, check for leaks, verify hot water at fixtures, confirm proper combustion
Total time on-site is typically 2-4 hours depending on complexity. You'll have hot water before we leave.

Why Can We Do Same-Day When Others Can't?
Three reasons:
- Supply house relationships. We work closely with local distributors and can source Bradford White units quickly โ often same-day for standard residential sizes. No waiting days for a special order.
- Local operation. We're based in Huntingdon Valley and serve a 30-mile radius around Philadelphia. We're not dispatching from a call center in another state. Short drive times mean faster response.
- Experienced crews. Our technicians install water heaters regularly. There's no guesswork, no extra trips for forgotten parts, no callbacks. A crew that's done 100+ installations works efficiently.
What We See in Philadelphia Homes
Philadelphia has some unique characteristics that affect water heater replacement:
- Rowhome access: Getting a 50-gallon water heater down narrow basement stairs is a skill. We've done it hundreds of times in Fishtown, South Philly, Manayunk, and everywhere in between. Some companies add surcharges for difficult access โ we build it into our standard pricing.
- Old plumbing: Many Philadelphia homes have galvanized or mixed plumbing. We identify connection issues before we start and address them as part of the install.
- Code compliance: Philadelphia requires permits for water heater installation. We handle the paperwork.
- Gas line condition: Older homes sometimes have gas connectors that don't meet current code. We replace them as part of the job โ it's included.
When Same-Day Isn't Possible
We're honest about limitations:
- Tankless installations: These take more planning and usually can't be done same-day. See our tankless guide.
- Unusual sizes or configurations: If you need a 75-gallon, power-vent, or specialty unit, we may need to order it. Usually next-day.
- Late-day calls: If you call at 4 PM, we can likely diagnose the issue today but may schedule the replacement for first thing tomorrow morning.
How to Get Started
Fastest route: call (844) 460-4328. Second fastest: upload a photo and we'll call you back within the hour.
If you can, photograph the data plate on your current unit. It tells us the brand, model, size, and age โ everything we need to quote accurately and bring the right replacement.
